I have been told I am a lot like Puddleglum. From C.S. Lewis's book The Silver Chair, he is a character who reliably looks at the bad side of affairs, but is really very courageous and even has a sense of humor in his own way.

Did it have babies on it's back? It looks like a wolf spider. That's the kind that scared Caroline in the dark one time. I think you've heard that story. Even if you haven't, knowing Caroline, you can have a good feeling for what the outcome was.
We didn't observe any babies. Maybe she was between batches.
tastes great with bbq sauce
"tastes great with bbq sauce"
I hope you're not speaking from experience...
Now that is cool :D I used to want to buy a tarantula online and keep it as a pet, but the weather here is just so not tarantula weather, and it would have been a big pain to keep up with.
Actually, Houston isn't a great place for tarantulas either. That picture was taken in the Texas panhandle. Two-and-a-half inch cockroaches, on the other hand...
Don't forget those lovely Balrog bugs that come out after a rain. The thought of you holding that thing still sends a shiver down my spine...and your idea to cut it open...well, that's why God gave me girls!
You all are making my mind up about living in TX! LOL... BIG bugs are yucky!
Carol,
Don't be discouraged about Texas; it's a great place to live. Ya know, we have a saying down here-- everything's bigger in Texas!
Very best site. Keep working. Will return in the near future.

i'm just curious but are wolf spiders and tarantulas the same thing? I don't think they are but i'm not a spider expert.
